That really resonated with my heart. Thank you for sharing your story. Like Stephanie, I felt different emotions throughout your share, but the connection was truly heartfelt. I also recognize the need for a deeper exploration in connection with native/non-native. There are definitely people out there who intend to offend, but like you and Stephanie are discussing, some are looking for a connection. I would also be quite offended by those seeking to appropriate the culture to look cool. Again, Mahara, amazing share!

I enjoyed it, and think it's very good not only as inspiration for those who may not fully know how to embody walking the walk, but also an empowering feeling of togetherness for those of us who already actively implement a lot of Earth-related living in our lives (and still a lot of inspiration)!

Chief Rueben George, I was 43 before I even knew about the Indian School! As a white American I am so very sorry for what my government has done to you and all the indigenous peoples.
Dear Chief Rueben George, I am not Canadian but the USA is also a corporation protecting country. They do not take a long term look at situations. They only protect the mighty dollar. I don't really know how to change this but I will continue to try and vote for those I believe will take the long view. Don't give up.
Unless we find a way to take the money out of politics we will never win.

As a white woman living in Canada, I feel like it's a total privilege to be here and listening to you. Somehow I feel that I should just be here listening as opposed to sharing my thoughts. Just wanted to clarify that it is a feeling of not wanting to take up air space when I and my ancestors have taken up all the air and the water and the land for a long time. Time to sit and listen. My heart is broken hearing your stories. Just cannot wrap my head around what humans are capable of doing to each other. Sometimes it feels overwhelming. I was listening to CBS this morning about what we are doing to the water and the Earth. I guess you need to take in the info, take a moment to feel / grieve and then take action.

When you were talking about housing - I wanted to comment/ or put in chat about how Zoning Laws keep so many of us in bondage to high cost housing, and like you say, no alternatives.
We need city governments to allow Zoning for Yurts, and Tiny Homes, and yes Straw Bail.
I heard of someone who had land, his own property, and the city wouldn't let him put a yurt on it. Hmmm.
Our task as a human family is to open up various kinds of housing options so we can Truly be in Community.
To truly have our little villages.
So great to see an abundance of dialogue happening on these important topics ... and I respectfully urge you to consider the TC format where broader points of view can be shared without anyone 'paraphrasing' or 'recapping' what a speaker says. As I've experienced from decades of participating in and hosting Talking Circles, allowing such a broad spectrum of sharing enriches us all ... every person in a Circle is a valuable 'resource' for the Whole!
I make an ongoing effort to recognize we've ALL been colonized, and from that viewpoint, there is so much to be said and considered ... and healed . Remembering that has helped me, at age 75, to free myself from the 'blame and shame game' narrative and into deeper learning and practice of the Love frequency that is healing, and will heal, all.

WOW, i spent JUNETEENTH, with World Unity zoom meeting yesterday. very heavy subject, how it feels living in my skin. Like many of you I have had to live in two worlds since I was 7 years old and was caught up in the nightmare called "residential school". Prior to this I wrote a book on the experience of every Indigenous child, born before the time of contact with foreigners. I am happy with my life and waltz around the intrusions that happen in life and carry on the best way I can as my ancestors taught me. takem nsus'nukwah7 Malihatkwa

Auntie Zarna Joshi - The colonizer mindset perpetuates violence against children. The religious monoculture is also abuse. Brainwashing that there is only One Way is mental abuse and terrorism perpetuated by the colonizer mindset..
Grandmother Mari - We are having our eyes opened today. These important messages need to be heard. The system of power/ colonization and oppression is pervasive. We need to extricate this out of all of our systems. The hurt of one is the hurt of all.
Grandfather Les Malbon - It my job as a Warrior for the protection of women and the protection of children and the protection of all life. It is my duty to be in circle with all of you learn your stories for the protection of future generations. In the Sundance we all dance our great prayers for unity and for the awakening to the truth that we are one. We are not the same, but we are one.
